THOMPSON O'DONNELL, LLP traces its roots to the firm of Gallagher & Thompson, founded in 1946. Firm founder J. Roy Thompson (1911-2005) and John Jude O'Donnell (retired), who joined the firm in 1961, were both Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Until 1992 the firm was known as Thompson, Larson, McGrail, O'Donnell & Harding. In 1998, James F. Bromley and James W. Greene, formerly of Bromley, Greene and Walsh, merged their practices with TOMNH. In 2004, the firm changed its name to THOMPSON O'DONNELL, LLP,
to honor J. Roy Thompson and John Jude O'Donnell, the firm's founding and sustaining partners.

THOMPSON O'DONNELL, LLP's Civil Litigation practice features attorneys with extensive experience in a broad range of trial and appellate matters. These areas encompass tort and professional malpractice, contracts, construction, business and corporate litigation, as well as insurance defense, insurance coverage, and workers’ compensation. The firm has also developed an active Alternative Dispute Resolution practice. Attorneys from the firm serve as arbitrators, mediators and case evaluators for the local and federal courts and are retained by private parties.
